Info: Link Up, a program of Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute, pairs orchestras with students in grades 3–5 at schools in their local communities to explore orchestral repertoire through a hands-on music curriculum. Students participating in Link Up attend a culminating concert, in which they sing and play recorders or string instruments with the orchestra from their seats. Students also compose and perform their own pieces inspired by the orchestral repertoire studied. This event is being offered at a discounted rate of $5 per participant (excluding recorder). Info: Come out and listen/dance to the warm sounds of Bonnie and the Boys Out Back band. $5 entry fee. See the nice new banquet hall and enjoy a great sandwich and chips for only $5. Info: The Modesto Junior College Office of Campus Life and Student Learning presents the Positive People Speaker Series. The next speaker will be Joanna Murillo-Beaver, Modesto City Schools medical procedure specialist and licensed vocational nurse. Murillo-Beaver’s life took a traumatic turn after a night of celebrating left her in the hospital and landed her in jail. Info: The Friends of the Modesto Library is collecting books for its annual Used Book Sale. FOML promotes goodwill and support for the library. As a non-profit , the organization provides volunteer support for the programs and services provided by the Modesto Library. Funds raised by the book sale are used to enhance programs like Story Time and other children’s programs. The Friends do not accept textbooks, encyclopedias or damaged books. ANGELS CAMP
What: Living History Day

Where: Angels Camp Museum, 753 S. Main St.
Info: Visitors will be transported back in time every second Saturday of each month as docents re-create life in a Calfornia Gold Rush town. Artisan’s exhibits in the Mining and Ranching building include a carpenter’s shop, print shop and textile shop, each staffed by informed docents ready to demonstrate their respective craft.
